This paper firstly, by comparing England and France as non- imported states and Prussia, Russia & Iran as Imported States, shows that the Army in the imported state making has grown faster than Endogenous state making. Secondly, by focusing on Iran and regarding that the Imported State in this country required imposing state building from above, argues that the creation a large and powerful army in the era of state building became a necessity. Thirdly shows that more rapid growth of the army in imported states, particularly in Iran, has some implications for the development of the modern state in these societies in such a way that they possess some quality of the military authoritarian regime. Finally, and as far as Iran is concerned, the paper argues that the road from the imported state, the rapid growth of an army and consequently its extensive internal function to some characteristics of the military authoritarian regime in the first Pahlavi era was a direct one. This Road represents that political development of Iran in that period was a path dependent process, in the sense that some historical factors such as imported state have determined its features
